Located on the Lutheran Home campus, Shepherd’s Flock has been serving Arlington Heights families since 1997. Our program welcomes children from six weeks through kindergarten, providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences that help prepare children for school and for life.

Children learn best when they’re encouraged to ask questions, solve problems and explore the world around them.
Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to support each stage of development while helping children grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. Through hands-on learning, creative play and age-appropriate activities, children develop the skills they’ll use throughout their lives.

Learning Across Generations
One of the things that makes Shepherd’s Flock unique is its location on the Lutheran Home campus. Throughout the year, children and residents come together for shared experiences that encourage friendships across generations. Whether participating in seasonal celebrations, reading stories, creating crafts or simply saying hello during the day, these interactions bring smiles to children and older adults alike.
These moments help children develop empathy and respect while creating joyful experiences that benefit everyone involved. Intergenerational programs are thoughtfully planned in accordance with Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) guidelines.
Supporting Children From Infancy Through Kindergarten
Every age brings exciting milestones, and our classrooms are designed to meet children where they are in their development.
From individualized care for infants to preschool experiences that prepare children for kindergarten, each classroom encourages exploration, independence and confidence while providing the guidance children need to thrive.

We Provide
- Personalized care for each child based on their individual needs and schedules.
- Warm, meaningful interactions provided by loving primary caregivers who are professionals in early childhood education. Teachers spend one-on-one time with each infant to build trust and create a nurturing learning environment.
- Areas for active exploration including soft mats for tummy time and gross motor development, mirrors to encourage social-emotional development, and a variety of textured books and toys to inspire discovery.
- A separate room for up to eight babies each day with a 1:4 staff-to-child ratio.
- Individual schedules that adapt as each child grows and develops.
Parents Should Bring
- Breast milk or formula for feedings, along with baby food as needed.
- Diapers, wipes and an extra change of clothing.
Parents are invited to attend parent-teacher conferences twice each year in
May and November to discuss their child’s progress and development.

We Provide
- A focus on helping each child transition from infancy to toddlerhood, with teachers supporting language development and self-help skills.
- An individualized curriculum that encourages exploration and celebrates each important milestone as children move into the self-directed toddler stage.
- A classroom designed for babies on the move, including warm rugs, cozy areas and gross motor centers throughout the room.
- Space for up to eight toddlers each day with a staff-to-child ratio of 1:4.
- A consistent daily schedule with teacher-planned activities, meals at child-sized tables and drinks served in sippy cups.
- Plenty of active motor time in the indoor tree room, on the outdoor playground and during walks around the campus.

- Gentle introduction to potty-training routines as part of each child’s developmental journey.
- Daily opportunities for hands-on exploration and sensory experiences designed for curious toddler minds.
- Introduction to Spanish as a second language through age-appropriate lessons and activities.
- A classroom serving up to 13 children each day with a staff-to-child ratio of 1:5. Teacher-planned activities include art, sensory exploration, math, science, dramatic play and fine motor experiences such as puzzles and blocks.

- Encouragement for children to become self-motivated by offering a variety of developmentally appropriate choices throughout the day.
- Weekly Spanish lessons integrated into the curriculum to continue language development.
- A classroom serving up to 16 children each day with a staff-to-child ratio of 1:8. Daily teacher-planned activities include art, sensory exploration, dramatic play, math, science and fine motor experiences such as puzzles, games and blocks.

What We Provide
- Preparation for each child’s school years and beyond through engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.
- A learning-rich environment that develops advanced skills in math, science and literacy while fostering curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of learning.
- Daily opportunities to build decision-making, writing and literacy skills, as well as complex problem-solving abilities.
- Weekly field trips that encourage community involvement and hands-on learning experiences outside the classroom.
- A classroom serving up to 20 children each day with a staff-to-child ratio of 1:10. Daily teacher-planned activities include art, sensory exploration, dramatic play, math, science and fine motor experiences such as puzzles, games and blocks. Writing journals and pre-math skills are incorporated into the curriculum each day.
- During the final year before kindergarten, children participate in our Pre-K program, where STEM activities, math and literacy lessons help prepare them for a successful transition to elementary school.
- Stretch and Grow and Elite Soccer classes are offered onsite from September through May for children in the Rainbow and Sonshine classrooms.

Tuition and Pricing
We do our best to provide the highest quality child care possible while keeping our rates competitive and transparent, ensuring that your family receives exceptional care at a fair price. Here is our pricing structure at a glance:
- Enrollment Fee: A non-refundable, one-time enrollment fee of $150.00 per child or $200.00 per family is required to secure your child’s placement.
- Advance Tuition Deposit: A deposit equivalent to two weeks of tuition is due 30 days before the first day of attendance.
- Tuition Fees: Due by the 25th of the month for the next month’s child care services and payable by ACH online through the HiMama app.
- Family Discounts: The youngest child will be charged full tuition. There will be a 10% discount for each additional child.
